My Brethren, Today I would like to clarify a few doubts you and I have about being Born Again in the life of Christianity. I was dwelling in this doubt for so many years, I could not get a genuine answer, however I believe God has clarified this doubt of mine when a thought struck my mind on this matter lately. I realized what a Born Again really means when Our Savior Lord Jesus spoke about this to Nicodemus.
That thought which comes into my mind is also related to the verse of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he sent his only son, for whoever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life”. God does not said that whoever does good deeds will be saved, He did not mentioned that whoever gives more will go to heaven but rather he says, “…. Whoever believes in Him, should not parish but have everlasting life”.
Let’s discuss what this really means. In Christian life, there are believers and knower’s. When I said, Knower’s, those who know Jesus is the Lord but does have no courage to accept as Lord and Savior, they are knower’s. Those include some religion other than Christian and also among many Christian too. We can see a few examples in the life of Zakai, Remember Zakai was a Tax collector and also indulge in all kinds of corruption and cheats. Zakai perhaps knows Jesus could be the son of God, Jesus could perform all sorts of miracles and wonders, he was eager to meet him, He knows Jesus could change his life, that moment Zakai knows Jesus but he does not believe in Him so his life has no change. He indulges in the same activities on the worldly matters, richness and self-pride.
However, when he actually met Jesus face to face, he was reformed; his life took a new path.He stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." We are talking about that very change you have read in the Bible on the life of Zakai, his life when he knew Jesus and His life when he believed in Jesus.
Moreover, if you look at the life of Nicodemus in the Bible, he was a confused on what a Born Again really means when Jesus referred to him, but I believe he realized afterwards, as you find in the Bible. He appears three times in the Gospel: the first is when he visits Jesus one night to listen to his teachings (John 3:1-21); the second is when he states the law concerning the arrest of Jesus during the Feast of Tabernacles (John 7:45-51); and the last follows the Crucifixion, when he assists Joseph of Arimathea in preparing the corpse of Jesus for burial (John 19:39-42). If you observer carefully, there is a change in his life before and after he met Jesus Christ.
My dear friends, Salvation is a gift given to you by God out of Love. Jesus died on the Cross to save us, to save the world because God so love the world that he sent his only son, for whoever believes in him should not parish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
If you believe in Jesus, a change should take place. You can no longer indulge in the same activities which you did before. Your life should take a new path- To Glorify God in everything you do, the praise his name in all the things you do…
Salvation is a Gift, its a gift like you gave it to somebody you love on his/her special day. The receiver could happily accept your gift, thank you and have it or He/She could throw it away, or give it to someone else.
